2026-04-19 16:00:00Z Apr. 19, 2026 Meet and Greet Silver's Parents! Apr. 19, 2026
4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Silver's (our club's Rotary Youth Exchange Inbound student) parents (Jaan and Katrin) are arriving this week and will be staying in Canada for about a week! Annette Muellejans, Silver's host mom, has graciously agreed to host a drop-in get-together at her house on Sunday, April 19, 4-7 pm so we can meet them and get to know them a bit before they jet off to see some of the beauty that Canada has to offer! This is a casual get-together, so you can leave your suit and tie at home, and come prepared to meet some lovely people and chat with your fellow club and community members.

Please invite/bring your spouse and/or children, if they would also like to come!

We're asking that each person bring a small snack or something to munch on, and BYOB. There will be some drinks provided.

We looking forward to seeing you on Sunday!

2026-05-09 09:30:00Z May 09, 2026 Tree Planting - Spring 2026 May 09, 2026
9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
282 Victoria St

We have been coordinating this project with the Town of Strathroy-Caradoc and Firefield Landscape Supply, and we now have a date! We will be planting ~15 trees on Saturday, May 9, at Victoria Park in Strathroy.

  • Instructions for getting to where we will be planting the trees: Travel south on Victoria St from Kitridge, first drive on the west side, south of the bridge. Parking is available at this address.
  • Equipment we will need:
    • Shovels for digging holes (please label your shovel with your name).
    • 3 large hammers/mallets to pound in stakes
    • 3 rakes (garden rakes, not leaf rakes) to spread the mulch/dirt
    • 2 wheelbarrows to move the trees
  • Don't forget good shoes or work boots and work gloves!

We will have a short planting demonstration at 9:30 am, to show what is required for properly planting these trees to give them the best chance at surviving. We have an expert, Steve Shaw, retired from the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority. Then, we get planting!

MyFM will also be on site for publicity!

Twin Elms Event Room

Hello Rotarians

Let's end this Rotary year with a bang!

Literally.  There has been a murder at Dead Man's Saloon and Deputy Drinkwater is dead!! .  Whodunit???

Perhaps it was Patty Petticoat or Shott O' Whiskey.  I wouldn't rule out Nugguet McRush or Calamity Jill either!

Dust off your best cowboy garb and join us as we attempt to solve the murder.  Each participant will be assigned a character, or a supporting character if you prefer, and the social committee will guide you through the clues and the evidence in order for you to make your guess as to the identity of the murderer.

The venue for this event will be at Dead Man's Saloon (also known as the Twin Elms event room).

We will gather at high noon (or 6pm Strathroy time).

The DOD (date of death) for Deputy Drinkwater will be Tuesday June 9th.

Cowboy chow (and dietary specific chow) will be provided by the Social Committee using funds from our budget.  There will be no cost to the members.

No need to bring anything except your drink of choice.

We ask that everyone Register for the event as soon as possible so we can figure out characters and food quantities.

And remember the old cowboy saying....

"Always drink upstream from the herd"

The Social Committee

West Middlesex Memorial Centre

The Strathroy Hospice Committee, through Alisha Gleiser/Chair Tyler Damen, has invited the Rotary Club of Strathroy to be part of this year's Hospice Hoedown on Thursday, August 6.

This popular event is sold out with 2,000 attendees, and they need our help to make it a success! They are looking for as many volunteers as we can provide, including:

  • Smart Serve certified volunteers (at least 11 are needed—and more are very welcome!)
  • Non–Smart Serve volunteers for a variety of other roles.

The Strathroy Jets are working in partnership on this fundraiser.  I've included a link to the evening's entertainment so you can see what promises to be a fantastic event.

Tyler has encouraged us to wear our Rotary apparel and proudly represent our club. As he put it:

"Without service clubs and volunteers, this important work simply couldn't be done."

The Strathroy Lions Club will also be volunteering, and we'd love to have a strong Rotary presence. Please consider inviting your spouse, family members, or friends, especially neighbouring Rotary friends to volunteer alongside us.

This is a wonderful service opportunity that requires very little planning, offers a fun evening with fellow volunteers, and most importantly, supports the incredible fundraising work of Strathroy Hospice.

Let's show our community what Rotary is all about. Tyler said they need dependable volunteers—and that's exactly who we are.

If you're able to help, please sign up this week. We hope you'll join us!

POSTPONED

Want to see our club grow? Only we can make it happen — together!

Join us for our Bring-a-Friend Social on Tuesday, September 22, 6-9 pm at Kirk and Chris' place (27804 Havelock St, Kerwood).

Your mission: bring at least one guest! A neighbour, cousin, coworker, or that friend who owes you a favour. (Oh yeah... spouses are very welcome, but don't count toward your quota. Nice try.) Your guest doesn't need a specific interest in joining Rotary—a big part of growing our club is simply letting people see what a good time we have together!

On the agenda: icebreakers (short, and only mildly cheesy), yard games—last year's giant Tetris champion has a title to defend—plus great snacks and drinks.

Please RSVP for yourself and everyone you're bringing by Sunday, September 20, so we know how much nacho dip to make and how many dunk tanks to order. 🐳

See you then!

Jennifer and Kirk
