Consider being a Rotary Host Family! Retirees, empty nesters, busy fams with kids, senior couples... all volunteer hosts are welcome to apply! Here is reflection from a recent host in our District 6330.
Hosting a Rotary Exchange student was never on our radar. In fact, when our daughter, Brielle, was setting up for her exchange she was asked to provide three host family potentials, and we said, “No, sorry.” We were already blending our large family and two of us were adapting to life in a new country! We were also starting a brand new business. But when we found out that Vitoria was here in Walkerton and hailed from Brazil (Brielle’s host country) we had to invite her into our lives. And when she needed a host family for the second term of her exchange, we applied. She has lived with us for four months now (one left) and she has enriched our lives exponentially. She is so good with her host siblings and very flexible and willing to try new things. Her English is great now and we speak a little Portuguese.

We haven’t received any compensation or reimbursement for hosting (although Rotary Club does do all paperwork and helps with transportation/enrollments), and I say that only to say that benefits aren’t monetary oftentimes. All of our lives will never be the same after all of these experiences we’ve shared with one other.” Contact us to learn more—send us a message or email hello@strathroyrotary.com!
